Until 2015 we usually organised two events every year: our Denver Day at which several artists played the music of John Denver, and a Video Day where we watched concerts, interviews, films, documentaries, shows en performances by John throughout his carreer on a big screen. There also have been Weekends and a few other one-day events.
In 2016 we combined these events into one The World of John Denver Weekend. This was held for the first time in November 2016 at Stay Okay Apeldoorn. From 2017 on we organize the Denver weekend at "De Waterlelie" in Zoetermeer, the first edition there was in November 2017.
Structure of this website
At the top of this website you will find a menu with eight sections.
The General section includes:
- an overview of concerts and other performances by John Denver in the Netherlands and Belgium
- an overview of our upcoming events, as well as an overview of the public performances known to us by the artists performing on Denver Day, and other events where the music of John Denver will be played
- a guide for visiting our events, including some touristic information
- a link to our Facebook page with the most recent news
- our contact page where a contact form is included and directions by public transport or car to "De Waterlelie" in Zoetermeer. You can also register or unsubscribe via the contact form to receive our Dutch newsletters.
- our John Denver photo album
- a page about John's entry in the Walk of Fame in Rotterdam
- a page about the Calypso model built by Sonja van Kan
- a page about the memorial stone for John in Nunspeet
- a page about the Far Out! geocache in Zoetermeer
The newsletters of recent years are included in the Newsletters section. They're all in Dutch, but you might enjoy the photos that are included in some of them. The information that is included in the newsletters can also be found on our Facebook page.
Scanned club magazines from the past can be found in the Club magazines section. Not all club magazines have been scanned yet. Just like the newsletters they are written in Dutch.
The WOJD Weekend section contains references to our pages with information about our The World of John Denver weekends of recent years, and from longer ago.
The Denver Days section has links to our pages with information about our past Denver days, with programs, reports, photos and / or video clips of the performances by our tribute artists.
At the Video Days section you will find the programs of our Video Days from the past.
At the Other section you will find the programs of other past events that didn't categorize in one of the other sections.
The Artists section includes pages from a number of tribute artists who have performed at our Denver Days and World of John Denver Weekends over the years, and from whom we have photos or video to share.
Just below the menu, John's albums are displayed. By clicking on an album, you can listen to it via the Youtube page of the administrators of John's estate. For some live and compilation albums this is not available, you will be redirected to the information about the album on the John Denver website.
Enjoy the website, and our events
If you have been to one or several of our events, we wish you lots of fun reminiscing. If not, hopefully this website is a nice introduction!
We have a nice group of people, some of whom have known each other for many years or decades, but new members are always welcome to enjoy the rich legacy that John has left us through his music and his vision. Over the years, a family feeling has developed, which we like to share with everyone who has appreciated John.
